PHOTOS: Seafood processing equipment giant Baader goes big for its 100th anniversary celebration

The family-owned Germany processing equipment company, founded in 1919, threw itself and its customers quite an anniversary party.

"To understand the new, the knowledge of the past is important," Baader Managing Director Torsten Krausen told attendees at the company's 100th anniversary event last week in its founding city of Lubeck, Germany.

Baader showcased both the old and the new -- sharing mementos from the company's history, but doing away with technical discussions of its machinery to instead host a range of speakers to discuss the future of food.

Digitization and the food value chain were both key topics.

"I am convinced that many of today's business models will look different in the future or simply no longer exist at all," Managing Partner Petra Baader said.

"Digitalization plays an important role here. We must combine digital data with human creativity, verifiable facts and visionary ideas, challenges and demands so that we are in a position to utilize and drive toward innovations along the entire food value chain and beyond."
