Vietnamese turn to Japan to help build shrimp brand

Vietnam's Soc Trang province and Japan's Hiroshima region may work together to help Soc Trang build its own shrimp brand.

Officials from Vietnam's Soc Trang province and Japan's Hiroshima region are holding talks with a view to working together to help Soc Trang build its own shrimp brand, lecourrier.vn reports.

They are looking at ways the regions could collaborate on projects dealing with waste material and water used in shrimp production.

Officials from Hiroshima are seeking alternatives to lower cost Indian shrimp, which has suffered quality issues, the report said.

Consumption trends in both regions are also being discussed as part of efforts to reach an international cooperation agreement.
