High Liner names new CEO

Executive has long retail and foodservice resume from ConAgra, Maple Leaf and other companies.

High Liner Foods on Wednesday named Rod Hepponstall as president and Chief Executive Officer.

Hepponstall takes over from High Liner Chairman Henry Demone, who assumed the role of interim CEO after the departure of Keith Decker.

Hepponstall has 25 years of foodservice and retail experience in both Canada and the United States, with roles ConAgra, Maple Leaf Foods and Lamb-Weston, where he most recently served as senior vice president and general manager of Retail and Foodservice Business Units.

High Liner struggled throughout 2017 with rising raw material prices and a costly recall.

Hepponstall will assume the role on May 1.
