Incorporating offshore wind turbines into aquaculture cage farming could "greatly benefit" Taiwan and has the potential of not only being self-sufficient and sustainable, but opening "a new fishing frontier for the local fisheries in the coastal areas," said Charles Lee, manager at the International Copper Association Taiwan office.

He is calling on the government to lift regulatory restrictions to allow the power sector to implement these energy projects and help with granting fishing rights.
