Houston, Texas-based JFE Franchising, which owns Snowfox, the largest retail sushi program outside Japan, is now in more than 900 US retail sushi kiosks thanks to a new deal with US retailer Weis Market.

On Wednesday JFE announced it has secured a deal to expand to 114 Weis markets throughout the US Northeast.

Last year, UK conveyor belt sushi chain Yo! Sushi merged with SnowFox, with the transaction faciliated by private equity firm Mayfair Equity Partners.

“With the support and commitment from Weis Markets Merchandise Team, we are excited to offer Weis Market customers our quality Snowfox sushi beautifully made fresh daily by our chefs," said Snowfox President Stacy Kwon.

The company notes retail fresh sushi is a fast-growing category within the US retail market. The category can represent up to 1 percent of total store sales, minus fuel and pharmacy, and roughly 18 percent of deli sales penetration in many markets.

Snowfox’s sushi program is also found in Kroger, Costco, Sam’s Club, Winco and Albertsons.
