Lithuanian surimi giant Viciunai is on a mission to increase its branded presence in the Spanish market, where it is currently “quite weak," according to Ugis Kalnins, general director of the company in Spain.

The company is investing €4 million ($4.6 million) in two new lines at its surimi facility in Santander – one for gula and one for snow crab -- which will start operating in October.

“We are really pushing, almost introducing, our Vici brand in Spain, where we are quite weak at the moment in comparison with other brands such as Angulas Aguinaga, Krissia, Gula del Norte, and Pescanova, for example.”
