U.S. consumers spent an estimated $102.2 billion (€90 billion) for fishery products in 2017, according to the annual Fisheries of the United States report released Thursday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The 2017 total includes $69.6 billion (€61.3 billion) in expenditures at foodservice establishments; $32.5 billion (€28.6 billion) in retail sales for home consumption; and $39.8 million (€35 million) for industrial fish products.

The commercial marine fishing industry contributed $50.9 billion (€44.8 billion) to the US Gross National Product.
