UK sushi manufacturer Ichiban UK announced its consumer brand, Yumie Sushi, was approved as a gluten-free product by Coeliac UK.
This change is part of the company's early 2016 strategy. Ichiban is also expanding its distribution network across the UK, to include a major grocery chain.
Ichiban UK's Simon Chambers said the company looks to "align with the consumer’s preferences. Increasingly, shoppers are looking for gluten-free alternatives when they choose their core food items – whether that’s for true allergen reasons, or because refraining from eating gluten simply makes them ‘feel better.'"
