The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in September announced Trident Seafoods as the winner of a bid for 16.8 million pounds of frozen pollock fillets, worth around $38.9 million (€35.6 million).

Trident will supply the Alaska salmon products to US schools nationwide starting in January of 2020 and through September, according to the USDA.

The general price per pound for the product ranges from $2.11 (€1.93) to nearly $2.60 (€2.38).

USDA purchases of Alaska pollock reached a record 13.8 million pounds earlier this year, the Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) said.
