US-based foodservice distributor Sysco has acquired Illinois food distributor Waugh Foods, a company with about $40 million (€35 million) in annual sales.
Waugh Foods, an East Peoria, Illinois-based, 70-year-old company, provides a wide variety of products to customers throughout central Illinois. It will continue to be managed by the existing leadership team, which includes Waugh President, Rick Look, as well as Tim Waugh and Joe Waugh, Jr.
Sysco’s Executive Vice President of US foodservice operations Greg Bertrand said the company is “excited to welcome Waugh into the Sysco family” and believes “this acquisition is a perfect complement” to Sysco’s existing local and regional presence.
