German supplier followfood -- the owner of fast-growing seafood brand followfish -- announced a cooperation with Munich-based tech firm navama to achieve more transparency in its supply chain.

Navama uses satellite data to review if vessels and boats comply with environmental standards. The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) worked on introducing the tracking system together with the firm.

Based on an automatic identification system (AIS) and GPS data, it allows companies to monitor fisheries in real-time.

Followfish plans to start integrating the data in its tracking system for consumers as of fall this year.
