Carrefour recalls Marine Harvest smoked salmon over listeria

People who have consumed the products and who present fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, are advised to consult their doctor.

French retail giant Carrefour is recalling batches of Marine Harvest's Kritsen-branded Scottish smoked salmon following the detection of Listeria monocytogenes (listeria).

"If people still own products described above, they are asked not to consume them, but rather destroy them, or bring them back to the point of sale where we will proceed with the refund," said the recall.

People who have consumed the products and who present fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, are advised to consult their doctor, it continued.

"Pregnant women need to pay special attention to these symptoms, as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly."

These symptoms may suggest listeriosis, a potentially serious disease with an incubation time of up to eight weeks.
