A nonprofit consumer group is suing Mowi, the world’s largest salmon farmer, in a US court for what it alleges is deceptive marketing of its products in the Washington D.C. market.

In the 33-page complaint filed July 30 in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) said it seeks no monetary damages but demands Mowi and US subsidiary Ducktrap meet the standards of the District of Columbia Consumer Protection Procedures Act (CPPA), which is designed to protect consumers from deceptive business practices.
