American Aquafarms, a group planning a massive salmon farming project in Maine, on Monday filed a request to dismiss a lawsuit it brought against the State of Maine's Department of Marine Resources (DMR).

American Aquafarms was joined by the DMR and project opponent Frenchman Bay United in the request for dismissal.

In April, DMR rejected the company's lease application for a 30,000 metric-ton closed-containment farm, citing the company's inability to submit any documentation on the strain of eggs it planned to import from genetically modified salmon producer AquaBounty's Rollo Bay Canada facility in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
