Russia's Vyborg Shipyard, located near St. Petersburg, launched a new factory trawler on Dec. 5 for Russian fisheries giant Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet (ATF).

The first of four vessels ordered by the largest fishing company in Russia’s Arkhangelsk region was named Barents Sea and is designed for cod and haddock in the Barents and Norwegian Seas.

The four new 86-meter bottom trawlers were contracted in March 2017 and are scheduled for completion by 2020.

Initial design of the new vessel is based on ST116XL project by the Norwegian design bureau Skipsteknisk.
