US Gulf of Mexico shrimp landings in October fell to their lowest level in more than 15 years, according to figures released Wednesday by NOAA Fisheries’ Southeast Fisheries Science Center.

Shrimp landings for the month were 10.4 million pounds, roughly 30 percent below the prior 16-year historical average of 14.8 million pounds for the month.
