Premium Brands Holdings and a coalition of Mi'kmaq First Nations announced Monday it completed the acquisition of Canadian shellfish harvesting and processing giant Clearwater Seafood, only a few weeks after shareholders approved the sale of the company.

The deal, announced in November, was approved on an almost unanimous vote at a special meeting of shareholders.

Premium Brands and the coalition of First Nations, through a newly formed company owned equally between Premium Brands and the First Nations group, acquired all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Clearwater and the units issued under various Clearwater equity compensation plans for CAD 8.25
