Maruha Nichiro-owned Dutch trader Seafood Connection has acquired Grimsby, United Kingdom-based seafood firm Northcoast Seafoods.
Previously owned by Denmark's Kangamiut, Northcoast specializes in sourcing coldwater shrimp and whitefish products from Canada, Iceland, China and Vietnam.
Seafood Connection said it sees growth potential for Northcoast Seafoods on the retail and business-to-business market in the United Kingdom in particular.
Through the "strategic partnership," both companies will complement each other in their respective markets, Seafood Connection said in a statement.
