Marine Harvest's CAD 315 million ($247.5 million/€208.6 million) acquisition of Northern Harvest can go ahead after it obtained a "No-Action" letter from the Canadian Competition Bureau.

The buy-out, announced in December, can now be completed, reported Marine Harvest in a stock exchange filing.

Northern Harvest has 45 licenses in Newfoundland and New Brunswick, and expects to harvest 19,000 metric tons of salmon in 2018.

At the time of the announcement, analysts told IntraFish they were positive about the acquisition, pointing to clear synergies.
