Grimsby-based Northcoast Seafoods reported a drop in its 2017 full-year earnings, despite a 17 percent jump in turnover year-on-year.

The company, which is jointly owned by Denmark's Kangamiut Holdings and NIM Limited, cited difficulties in the global seafood sector and increased cost as the major reasons for the downturn.

Operating profit amounted to £3.1 million (€3.5 million/$4 million), down 13.8 percent from the £3.6 million (€4 million/$4.7 million) reported a year earlier.

Turnover for the year came in at £126.5
