Monday's headline deal in which Chilean agro-giant Empresas Agrosuper -- the owner of salmon farmer Los Fiordos -- agreed to buy 100 percent of AquaChile in an acquisition worth $850 million (€736 million), was cheered by analysts who follow the sector.

Carl-Emil Kjolas Johannessen, an analyst at Pareto Securities, welcomed the deal, telling IntraFish "according to my calculations, Agrosuper will be the second largest salmon farming company in the world after Marine Harvest."
