A worker at a processing plant belonging to Chilean salmon processor Invermar has tested positive for coronavirus, local media reports.

The worker from the company's Spun octopus extraction department at Llaullao on Chiloe island has been absent from work since June 25 after being suspected of carrying the virus.

The positive test was confirmed on June 30.

Invermar said it is taking all appropriate measures to avoid the spread of the virus and has implemented rapid testing regime among Spun department workers.

Invermar did not respond to requests for comment from IntraFish.
