Disease prevention is crucial when it comes to aquaculture.

Which is why Craig Browdy, director of research and development at the US-based feed producer Zeigler Bros, told IntraFish biosecurity is a focus for its Zeigler Aquaculture Research Center (ZARC) at Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Browdy said research efforts there are focused on preventing disease from creeping into the food chain, particularly when it comes to breeding and seed production.

The research center, which has been open since 2015, supports product development for the marine shrimp industry.
