Whole Oceans's parent company Emergent Holdings has hired Justin Hankins as vice president of finance.

Hankins has more than 13 years of experience in agriculture related finance and graduated from the University of Nebraska Kearney with a major in business management and a minor in economics.

Last year Whole Oceans unveiled plans to build a land-based salmon farm on the site of the former Verso paper mill in the heart of Bucksport, Maine.

Initially, it will farm 5,000 metric tons of Atlantic salmon at the facility, but it has plans to grow to 10,000 metric tons annually soon after.

Last week Whole Oceans announced Jacob Bartlett is taking on a larger role in the day-to-day operations of the company as Jason Mitchell steps back from his leadership role in the company. Bartlett is CEO of private equity firm Emergent Holdings.
