The US Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) on Thursday announced the creation of an aquaculture research program aimed at increasing the domestic production of fish and shellfish.
The nonprofit organization will invest up to $5 million (€4.5 million) in research to improve economic conditions for fish farmers, under a dollar-for-dollar matching model that will see the investment at least double.
“The United States has the resources and innovation necessary to support a thriving US aquaculture economy here at home,” said Sally Rockey, executive director of FFAR.
