Nofima researchers in Norway have discovered that the optimal swimming speed in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) for post-smolt weighing 80 grams is 1 to 1.8 body lengths per second.
The optimal speed was found by looking at the damage the fish suffered, such as scale loss and hemorrhagic patches in each current level.
