Norway's Fisheries and Aquaculture Industry Research Fund (FHF) is offering grants worth a total of up to NOK 64 million ($7.6 million/€6.6 million) for research projects aimed at combatting sea lice.

It is the largest single venture FHF has ever undertaken.

Sea lice costs producers hundreds of millions of dollars annually.

Bids will be accepted for projects falling into four main areas: Basic biological knowledge of interaction between salmon lice and host fish, preventive measures against lice, cleaner fish and control measures.
