The NGO Wild Fish Conservancy is alleging that the hundreds of thousands of Atlantic salmon that escaped from a Cooke Aquaculture salmon farm in Washington state last year carried piscine reovirus, or PRV, that it says could infect native wild salmon.

One hundred percent of the 19 tested salmon, which escaped from Cooke Aquaculture’s fish farm off the shore of Cypress Island in August 2017, are positive for piscine reovirus (PRV), a non-native disease to Pacific salmon, according to an article on Herald.net.
