Namibia’s Hangana Seafood is aiming to grow 300 metric tons of abalone annually within four years, ramping up production from 35 metric tons currently, reports All Africa.

Hangana Seafood and Hangana Abalone Farming Managing Director Herman Theron said the company has invested NAD 40 million (€2.3 million/$2.6 million) into the farm since it was acquired it in 2016.

Speaking at the launch of Hangana Abalone Farming, Fisheries Minister Bernhard Esau said the revival of abalone farming at Lüderitz will be key for the future of the aquaculture industry in Namibia.
