Mexico’s National Service of Health, Food Safety and Agrifood Quality (Senasica) declared the the country free from Tilapia Lake Virus (TLV), and confirmed the country is now free of the disease.

The virus was found in six Mexican regions in August 2018, and the Mexican government has now cleared farms in all affected areas to resume normal trade of tilapia products after confirming the absence of the virus through different surveys using bio-molecular techniques.

The country has informed the World’s Animal Health Organization (OIE) of its renewed status as TLV-free.
