Marine Harvest last week announced it acquired freshwater hatchery Vågafossen Settefisk in Vindafjord, Norway.
The group has supplied Marine Harvest with smolt for the past 10 years exclusively, and produces 2 million smolts annually.
The company, established in 1986, was majority-owned by Osvald Kaldheim with 52 percent, with Marine Harvest holding the remaining 48 percent.
The company built out a modernized recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) in 2014.
