Northern France-based AMP Saumon de France has acquired two separate fish farming businesses with the aim of diversifying into fresh water trout production.

CEO Pascal Goumain declined to divulge the scope of the investment in Calvados-based Friardel and Eure-based Montreuil-l’Argillé, both in the Normandy region, but told IntraFish the aim is to raise its production to 400 metric tons of salmon, 200 metric tons of sea trout and 200 metric tons fresh water trout.

Before this latest development AMP Saumon de France annually farmed around 225 metric tons of salmon and 75 metric tons of trout but has set a longer term goal of gradually stepping up production to 2,500-3,000 metric tons of fish.
