Chief Archie Robinson Sr., a long-time Mowi Canada West partner, passed away, the company tweeted.

After a decade of successfully running its own salmon farm, the Nation-owned business Kitasoo Aquafarms partnered with Mowi -- then Nutreco -- to raise and process salmon in Kitasoo Xai/xais Territory. Today the business exports 5,000 metric tons of fresh salmon annually and employs 55 Kitasoo/Xai’xais First Nation members.

Robinson was an integral individual in this relationship throughout the past 20 years.

Mowi expressed its condolences to Robinson's family and the First Nation people.
