The European Union and the German government will finance the Myanmar Sustainable Aquaculture Program (MYSAP) with a total investment of €22.25 million ($27.7 million) over the next five years, reports Mizzima.

The program aims to help improving nutrition standards and food security, and to create jobs.

"MYSAP will benefit children, nutrition, and many other sustainable development goals, jobs, investments, trade, the environment and government capacity," said Kristian Schmidt, ambassador of the European Union to Myanmar.

MYSAP kicked off the consultation and drafting process of the National Aquaculture Development Plan (NADP), a document to set out objectives and a timeline to achieve them.
