Icelandic salmon farming company Arnarlax said Tuesday cold weather led to high mortalities at its salmon farm sites last week.

About 20 percent of its salmon died at its fish sites due to unusually low sea temperatures, said the company.

The two affected sites were at Arnarfjordur and Tálknafjörður, according to Stundin.

At its Tálknafjörður site, 197 metric tons of fish died due to the cold and another 125 metric tons died due to equipment that malfunctioned from the cold weather.
