Pilar Cruz, president of feed giant Cargill's compound feed business, is to head up Cargill Aqua Nutrition as current president and group leader Adriano Marcon takes control of Cargill Animal Nutrition, reports Reuters.
The reshuffle is part of the launch of a new business unit focused on animal and human health products and will see Macron replace Chuck Warta, who will step up to manage the new division.
Meet the new boss
Cruz has worked at Cargill for 17 years across several divisions in the company, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She joined the company in 2002 as an associate in corporate strategy and business development.
Her operational experience began when she was appointed general manager for the beef business with Cargill Meats Canada. She soon moved to Oklahoma City, where she led Cargill's business in the South Central United States.
From there, she moved to Costa Rica to lead Cargill's integration of Pipasa, its poultry acquisition in Central America. She then led Cargill's poultry operations in Nicaragua, which led to her to be appointed as business unit leader for Cargill Meats Europe.
Cargill's animal nutrition and health group will now consist of three units: Cargill Animal Nutrition, combining its existing feed, nutrition and pre-mix businesses; Cargill Aqua Nutrition; and the new Cargill Health Technologies.
Changing faces in aquaculture
Cargill Aqua Nutrition has been through a serious of management reshuffles over the past few years. Longtime CEO Einar Wathne, who maintained his position at the top following the Cargill acquisition of Ewos from private equity firms Bain and Altor in 2015, stepped down earlier this year, handing over the reigns officially to Marcon, who was selected for the top aquaculture post in 2018.
Cargill Aqua Nutrition produces nearly 2 billion metric tons of feed for the aquaculture industry annually.
