Benchmark has started production of salmon eggs at its new land-based breeding facility in Salten, Norway, it announced Monday.
The facility, which Benchmark describes as the "most modern salmon egg production site in the world, was built with a £40 million (€44.7 million/$51.6 million) investment over the past two years.
It will increase Benchmark's in-house capacity by 75 percent, allowing it currently outsourced production to bring in house, which will result in enhanced profitability, it said.
