The global supply of pangasius is expected to increase 14 percent in 2019, according to forecasts released at the Groundfish Forum last Wednesday.

Overall, the pangasius supply is expected to reach 2.4 million metric tons in 2019, up from 2.1 million metric tons in 2018.

Vietnam continues to be the main producer by far, with volumes expected to rise 20 percent in 2019 to a total 1.2 million metric tons. Production in Indonesia, the world’s second largest producer, will also increase 20 percent in 2019 to a total of 600,000 metric tons, according to estimates.
