US-based Gorton's Seafood, a subsidiary of Japanese giant Nippon Suisan Kaisha (Nissui), has named a new director for its McDonald’s Business Unit & Seafood Procurement.

Gregory Jeffers, who has worked with Gorton's since 1998, took over the role last month, according to his LinkedIn profile, moving from the director of purchasing role.

Jeffers started as a research food scientist with the Massachusetts-based company, and has served as a technical and sales service coordinator for the company, and as its regional business manager for key accounts.

In 2012, he became the company's director of seafood procurement, and later moved on to become its director of purchasing.

Jeffers holds a Master's and Bachelor's in Food Science from Cornell University.
