A higher resistance to sea lice in Chile and less effective treatments will lead to the harvest of smaller fish, changing volume expectations in Chile, market analyst firm Kontali said in its August report.

"With increasing numbers of salmon lice, reduced efficacy of azimetifos [bath remedy for lice] and an expected stricter control and enforcement of current regulations as well as a lack of sufficient capacity for alternative treatment, it can easily create noticeable change in the dynamics of production and harvests in the future," writes the analysis agency.
