The latest IntraFish Business Intelligence report, The World's Top Seafood Companies, shows the seafood, aquaculture, fisheries and fish feed industries, driven by growth in consumption, M&A and investor interest, have hit a new high-water mark, with revenues from the top 150 seafood companies totaling roughtly $120 billion.

Consolidation has made big companies even bigger, with the top five companies alone -- which include among others Japanese giants Maruha Nichiro, Nippon Suisan Kaisha (Nissui), Norwegian salmon farmer Mowi, fish feed producer Skretting and Thai tuna, shrimp, smoked salmon and canned processing giant Thai Union -- accounting for nearly $30 billion, according to the exclusive report.

Consolidation has also blurred the lines between aquaculture, fisheries, processing and feed companies, with giants such as Norway's Austevoll Seafood diversifying across the full value chain.

As sales and earnings have risen, so has investor interest, both in the private equity and institutional sector. The market cap for the top 5 publicly listed seafood firms now exceeds $44 billion.

The growth is by no means over. The increasing popularity of seafood products and consolidation of the supply sector into larger, more sophisticated companies is expected to drive industry growth even higher in the coming decade.

IntraFish's report gives an in-depth analysis into the current state of the seafood industry on a macro and micro level while ranking the top companies by revenue and market cap. In addition, the report details the top deals of all of 2018 and the first half of 2019.
