The biggest risk to New Zealand King Salmon’s business right now is climate change and the speed of government response to it, CEO Grant Rosewarne told IntraFish.

“We need government support to move to deeper, higher-flow waters as quickly as possible,” he said, following a year in which environmental stress saw the company's volumes fall 13 percent.

While New Zealand is led by a coalition government with an environmental focus, spatial planning support and legislation to enable world-class biosecurity “has not been forthcoming,” said Rosewarne.
