Prices of Chilean salmon into US take a second nosedive

Several shrimp prices followed by IntraFish on the New York Frozen Auction dropped in the week ending Aug. 4.

Indonesian vannamei prices were unchanged at $5.20 (€4.60) per pound for sizes 26/30, and at $4.65 (€4.10) per pound for sizes 31/40.

Prices for white farmed shrimp from India fell by $0.05 (€0.04) for sizes 16/20 and 26/30 to $5.95 (€5.05) and $4.70 (€3.99), respectively. For size 21/25, the price fell $0.10 (€0.09) to $5.15 (€4.37). 

Thailand white shrimp, tail-on was sold at $4.90 (€4.30) per pound for size 31/35, the same as the week prior, but size 36/40 fell $0.05 to $4.70 (€3.99).

White shrimp from Ecuador size 31/35 increased $0.05 to $4.45 (€3.78), size 36/40 fell $0.10 to $4.10 (€3.48) and size 41/50 fell $0.05 to $4 (€3.40).

Frozen tilapia still unchanged

The price of tilapia fillets from China size 5-7lb, 3-5lb and 7-9lb did not change and were $2.15 (€1.88), $1.95 (€1.70) and $2.25 (€2) per pound, respectively, at the NY frozen auction in week 30.

Norwegian salmon prices flat this week

The spot prices for salmon with delivery next week are more or less unchanged from the current week, and there are reduced inventories of large fish available on the market at the moment, according to industry players.

There is little fish available in sizes 6 kilograms and above, so those who have it, especially fish suitable for air cargo, can get up to NOK 65 (€6.90/$8.20) per kilogram, said one exporter.

Nasdaq: salmon prices start dropping again

Norwegian salmon prices started dropping again in week 30, after a slight recovery last week, according to the latest figures from Nasdaq.

In week 30, prices were down by almost 6.5 percent -- or by NOK 4.18 (€0.45/$0.53) per kilo -- compared with the week prior, to hit NOK 60.43 (€6.50/$7.60) per kilo on average, said the figures.

The prices were also 13 percent or NOK 9.04 (€0.97/$1.10) per kilo lower compared with a month ago, and 8.5 percent or NOK 5.63 (€0.60/$0.71) per kilo down on 12 weeks ago.

Prices of Chilean salmon into US take a second nosedive

For the second week in a row, prices for Trim D wholesale Chilean salmon into the US market took a nosedive, falling $0.29 (€0.25) per pound in week 30 to $4.98 (€4.22), according to the latest figures from DataSalmon.

This was after a fall of $0.21 (€0.18) in week 29.
