Chile salmon prices flat across the board

Tiny drops are seen in the US and Brazil markets, while nothing changed in Japan.

Chilean salmon prices remained stable in week 14, with only minor drops seen for products heading into the United States and Brazil, according to the latest figures from DataSalmon.

Prices for average D trim Chilean salmon heading into the US market fell $0.03 (€0.03) to $6.14 (€5.80) per pound while those for head-on whole salmon 10-12 wholesale into Brazil dropped by $0.04 (€0.04) to $8.13 (€7.70) per kilo.

Meanwhile, prices for frozen H&G coho to the Japanese market stayed static at JPY 875 (€7.50/$8) per kilo and prices for frozen H&G trout also didn’t move at JPY 1100 (€9.40/$10) per kilo on average.

The data is based on average prices from 15 Chilean exporters, representing 80 percent of the fresh supply from Chile.

Through an agreement, DataSalmon is using information from SalmonEx USA and Brazil index for the preparation of the reports.

The SalmonEx Index represents real sales, invoiced and delivered, between Monday and Sunday from the week prior, and most of these prices are negotiated the week before that.
