The world's 25 largest salmon farming companies account for a whopping 73.9 percent of the total global output, according to a new industry report from IntraFish, The World's Top Salmon Producers.

Overall farmed salmonid output reached just under 2.7 million metric tons in 2014, while the top 25 companies accounted for 1.97 million metric tons.

Leading the overall production was Marine Harvest, with 465,414 metric tons of production in 2014, while Norwegian harvester Sinkaberg Hansen, the 25th largest salmon farmer, produced 22,778 metric tons. Other major companies profiled in the report include Cermaq, Leroy Seafood, AquaChile, Cooke Aquaculture, The Scottish Salmon Company, Bakkafrost, Multiexport and more.
