Pangasius prices have been climbing in recent weeks due to ongoing issues with drought and high salinity, which have been taking a toll on volumes and availability in Vietnam, according to European importers.
Rens Elderkamp, manager of strategic sourcing at Anova Seafood, told IntraFish he is traveling to Vietnam this week to get a better understanding of the situation.
“I am going to Vietnam to get a better feeling about this period of drought, and the salinity issue which has been influencing the availability and pricing of pangasius over the last two months,” Elderkamp said.
