Icelandic fishing company Samherji acquired a stake in US East Coast company Slade Gorton, the latter announced Tuesday.

Samherji will be a minority shareholder in Slade Gorton as the two have "entered a strategic partnership" with the goal of expanding distribution of the Icelandic company's products in the US market.

The company is not disclosing the exact terms, including the percentage stake Samherji now has, Slade Gorton President and CEO Kim Gorton (pictured) told IntraFish.
