The assets include the production plant of Puerto Madryn, and a fleet of three freezer trawlers and two beam freezer trawlers with their respective fishing quotas – mainly of hake, shrimp, and cephalopods.
The transaction includes an agreement to favor Vigo-based Polaroid Ursae Minoris -- represented by Angel Armesto, general director at Pescapuerta -- in the trading of Estrella Patagonica’s production.
The operation is the end of Pescapuerta’s industrial activity in Argentina, and leads to significant layoffs, reducing the staff from 2,047 to 830 workers, affecting especially workers on the ground and vessels.
