Greenland Seafood Europe's first target after the acquisition of the Pickenpack processing plant in Gelmer, France, is to "stop bleeding," company executives told IntraFish at the Seafood Expo Global in Brussels last week.

Within six to eight months the company expects to break even, Patrick Barinet, managing director at Greenland Seafood, said.

The plant in Gelmer reported losses "for 19 years," he said, adding the main reason is that it is processing under capacity.

The Gelmer plant can produce around 20,000 to 25,000 metric tons of finished products.
