Marine Harvest Canada on Friday filed a civil claim against activist Alexandra Morton and others for trespassing on the company's salmon farming facilities on several occasions last month.

"Morton and others repeatedly entered upon Marine Harvest’s facilities without permission, refused to leave and refused to adhere to Marine Harvest’s biosecurity procedures," the company said of its claim, which it brought in a British Columbia Supreme Court.

"The defendants’ occupation of Marine Harvest’s facilities amounted to trespass and nuisance."
